Shaping fair and lasting agreements
Welcome
When communication breaks down, it can feel hard to know where to turn. Mediation offers a supportive, confidential space to explore issues openly, understand different perspectives, and work towards practical solutions that everyone can live with.

I provide independent civil and commercial mediation, supporting people and organisations to resolve disputes constructively, without the stress, cost, or uncertainty of formal proceedings.

About Me
Paula Cox
I’m a mediator who understands people and how conflict shows up in real life. My role is to slow things down, create space for different perspectives, and support people to find a way forward that feels fair and practical.

I’m a qualified sign language interpreter with over 30 years’ experience as a communication professional, alongside a background in social care. Supporting complex, emotionally charged conversations has been at the heart of my work throughout my career.

I’m also a professional supervisor and a qualified assessor. These roles strengthen my mediation practice — staying neutral, asking the right questions, and supporting people to make confident, informed decisions.

As a proud mum and a grandmother, I’ve learned a thing or two about compromise, perspective, and knowing when to pause and breathe. I bring that calm, steady approach to mediation, helping people find solutions that feel workable in real life.

Who Can I Help?

Neighbours
Resolve disputes with neighbours over boundaries, noise, or shared access. I can help restore harmony and find solutions that work for everyone.

Landlords & Tenants
Sort out property issues, from landlord-tenant disputes to boundaries and tenancies. I will help you reach clear, fair agreements you can rely on.

Businesses & Customers
Navigate business disagreements over contracts, sales, or services. We can work together to find practical solutions while protecting relationships and finances.

Families
Handle family matters not being dealt with by family court, such as probate and wills.
I will ensure everyone is heard and guide you to fair, respectful solutions.
Cost & Time
Mediation is typically far quicker and more cost-effective than going to court. It avoids lengthy delays and escalating legal costs, allowing the focus to remain on the key issues at a pace that is proportionate and appropriate. In many cases, matters can be concluded within a single day, reducing unnecessary stress.
Mediation gives you control over the outcome, so decisions are shaped by the people involved rather than imposed by anyone else. Online mediation adds further flexibility, making it easier to fit sessions around your life and allowing you to join from a place where you feel comfortable.

Confidentiality
I provide a confidential, without prejudice space where you can speak openly and explore options freely. This means discussions in mediation can’t be used later in court, limiting potentially damaging adverse media exposure.
which helps people have more honest and productive conversations.
Preserving Relationships
I support conversations that look beyond the immediate disagreement and towards what life looks like afterwards. This is especially helpful when people need to continue living, working, or interacting with one another.
Better Outcomes
Agreements reached through mediation tend to be more durable because the decisions are shaped by the people involved, not imposed from the outside. When everyone has a voice in the outcome, the agreement is more likely to feel fair, workable, and sustainable over time.

Why Mediate?
The Process
It’s natural to feel uncertain about mediation, especially if you’re not sure what will happen on the day. Any concerns about meeting the other party are handled with care, and the process is designed to feel calm, supportive, and well-structured, even during a difficult business or family dispute.

Getting Started
I begin with an initial conversation to understand the situation and confirm that mediation is appropriate. If everyone wishes to proceed, we agree the terms of mediation, including confidentiality and how the process will work.

Preparation
Each side provides a short summary of the issues and their goals so we can make the session as productive as possible.
We agree a day and time for mediation and I will send you a Zoom link.

Starting the session
On the day you will be placed in a private breakout room on Zoom. I’ll check in with you, answer any questions, and make sure you’re happy with the process. If you have advisors, you can meet them privately before a joint session begins.

Being Heard
Exploring Options
Moving Forward
All parties come together in an opening session. I explain the process and ensure each side has authority to settle. Each party has the opportunity to share their view of the dispute, uninterrupted, so everyone is fully heard.
You'll return to your private online rooms and I’ll move between rooms to meet with each side privately, helping to clarify issues, explore options, and work toward a resolution. Throughout the session, I’ll support both parties, propose options, and help move discussions closer to agreement.
If an agreement is reached, I'll support you to draft a legally binding document, which you can sign digitally.
The mediation ends, leaving everyone with clarity and confidence that the dispute has been addressed constructively—all from the comfort of your own home.
